Children's Counselling

Counselling to help the recovery process

The Sexual Abuse Intervention Program (SAIP) provides therapeutic individual counselling and/or group therapy to children under 19 years of age who have experienced sexual abuse, and/or are suspected to have been sexually abused, exploited, or assaulted. We also provide support to young people experiencing sexual behavior problems believed to be related to sexual abuse. Treatment may be short or long term depending on the needs of the client. Counselling is also provided to non-offending parents, guardians, and family members. The program also provides community education on sexual abuse intervention and prevention.

Services are offered in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton with referrals coming from across the Sea to Sky Corridor from Furry Creek to the Southern Stl’atl’imx Nations outside of Pemberton.

SAIP uses the most recent researched based modalities as the primary therapeutic tool. This includes trauma-focused CBT as well as client centered therapies and expressive therapies such as art and play therapy.

This program is funded by the Province of British Columbia.
