Sea to Sky Community Services supports Community Living programs and initiatives.

The Chung family and their organization Primacorp Ventures are valued donors with a $30,000 contribution this past year towards Sea to Sky Community Services’ Community and Employment Services. Drs. Peter and Stephanie Chung have been long devoted to supporting charitable organizations and causes that are dear to them and their family, particularly advocating for employment inclusivity.

Dr. Peter Chung, Chairman and CEO of Primacorp Ventures, has built a diverse portfolio with businesses in education, real estate, healthcare and social enterprise, along with holding a number of diplomatic responsibilities. Dr. Stephanie Chung is a founder of Joe’s Table, Bethesda Parents Group for parents of kids with autism and Down syndrome, an executive director of Coram Deo Foundation, an ambassador of an Global Aid Network, and the executive music director of Vancouver Zion Mission Choir. Together, and in memory of their late son Joseph, they founded Joe’s Table Cafe.

It’s a special project for Peter and Stephanie, after losing their eldest autistic son Joseph in 2012, they are proud and honored that his legacy and welcoming spirit have inspired more inclusive communities. There are now three Joe’s Table Cafe locations, in Burnaby, BC, Korea, and in 2021 a Squamish location opened at Quest University.  Employees of the Squamish location are trained by SSCS. Peter Chung is thankful to the Sea to Sky Community Services and appreciates the agency’s commitment to empower people with disabilities like his late son Joseph.

“While this type of work is hard, it is a labour of love,” Chung said. “When my son was looking for a job, we couldn’t find a program like the employment program offered at SSCS. It would have been so beneficial for him.”

With the support of this donation, SSCS will be able to offer programs that strengthen general life-skills, build nutrition awareness, and encourage entrepreneurial efforts through the Coastal Cooks Program, Baking Club, and Food Kits initiative.
