Youth Week 2021

 

Welcome to Squamish Youth Week 2021

Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May. It is a week of fun filled interaction and a celebration intended to build a strong connection between youth and their communities. The events are intended to highlight the interests, accomplishments, and diversity of youth across the province.

All events are free for youth 12 to 24 years old. Age ranges vary based on the event.

Tune into our Instagram Livestream Youth Trivia event to kickoff Youth Week 2021! Join us for the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes and prizes for correct guesses. This opportunity is open to all youth ages 12 to 24 years old.

Sunday May 2 – HIGH FIVE Training for youth 16-24 with District of Squamish Recreation Services

FREE YOUTH PROGRAMMING. Recreation Services is running a FREE High Five training session for BC Youth Week on May 2! Anyone aged 16-24 can register. Visit squamishlive.ca for full details!

Monday May 3 - Instagram Basketball Trick Shot Competition

Monday May 3 – Instagram Basketball Trick Shot Competition

Coach Yoni of Squamish Basketball Academy and Hoop Reel challenges youth of all ages to a Trick Shot Competition! Tag @Squamishyouthworker in a video of you doing your sweetest basketball trick shot! Coach Yoni and his team will choose the top three winners to be announced on Monday May 3rd. This opportunity is open to all youth ages 12 to 24 years old.

Youth Grades 7-12 and their families join a virtual panel hosted by Christine McLeod in partnership with Sea to Sky Community Services and Rising Villages

Discover what resilience is and why it matters
Share stories of resilience and growth
Learn how you can become more resilient at school, with friends, at home and more

Share an evening of community & connection during Squamish and BC Youth Week 2021

Wednesday May 5 - Cookie Decorating Contest

Wednesday May 5 – Cookie Decorating Contest on Zoom with Youth Services

Show off your cookie decorating skills with us on Zoom from 4:30-6pm! Registration includes cookie and supply drop off to your door. Don’t miss your chance to score some sweet youth week merch and other prizes! This program is free and spaces are limited. First come first serve. Strict covid-19 safety measures are followed while delivering food and supplies. Deliveries only available to youth in Squamish. Friday May 7 - Scavenger Hunt

Friday May 7 – Scavenger Hunt! with Youth Services

Keep your eye out on the @SquamishYouthWorker Instagram for a fun local scavenger hunt opportunity! Clues will be announced at 12pm on Friday May 7th. Multiple opportunities to win prizes and clues will be placed in a variety of neighborhoods around Squamish. This opportunity is open to all youth ages 12 to 18 years old.
